Tribute Western Counties North

Burnham 32 Barts Rugby 19

BURNHAM got back to winning ways and in the process moved up to fifth in the Western Counties North table with a bonus-point triumph over Barts Rugby on Saturday.

Henry Bigwood, Tim Piper, Jordan Paul, Ash Tucker and Jordan Wikiteria all crossed for Burnham, with Paul also kicking seven points.

Right from the start Burnham applied the pressure, and from a lineout just inside their own half, the rampaging Jordan Wikitera smashed through before offloading to Henry Bigwood to score between the posts - Jordan Paul converted 7-0.

Burnham kept their foot on the pedal and after 12 minutes, a clearing kick was collected by Paul and offloaded to Wikitera, who scattered defenders before adroitly passing to the supporting Tim Piper to touch down between the posts.

Burnham kept their proverbial stranglehold on Barts, and when Spelman picked from the scrum, he fed Jordan Paul to round the last man and then score out wide.

Paul added a penalty from under the posts, before Barts crashed over for their first try.

Barts scored early in the second half, but Burnham hit back and Piper created enough space to send Ash Tucker on his way for a much needed bonus point.

After 27 minutes Burnham were reduced to 14 men, allowing Barts to claim third try.

On the stroke of full-time, Jordan Wikiteria was able to record a richly deserved try for a 32-19 win.

Burnham are at home again this Saturday in a re-arranged fixture against Gordano.

Kick-off 2-30pm.
