THE Somerset Rebels will be looking to build on Sunday’s stunning away victory at Peterborough when they face the Ipswich Witches twice in as many days this week, with the Rebels visiting the Witches Foxhall Stadium on tonight (Thursday) before the teams reconvene the following night (Friday) at the Oaktree Arena.

Ipswich are still looking to get their season off the ground, an inconsistent League Cup campaign saw them quickly lose any hope of progressing through from their group and on to the semi-final stages, and their only league match to date saw the Suffolk side lose away at Rye House.

The Witches have retained just two of their side from last season, namely Great Britain international Danny King and 2013 Italian Champion, Nico Covatti.

To this duo Ipswich have brought Dane Morten Risager back into the side after his year away with Plymouth with young British prospects Lewis Kerr and James Sarjeant completing the Witches top five, while at reserve Ipswich track the three-time Italian under-21 Champion, Michele ‘Paco’ Castagna and another young British rider, Darryl Ritchings.

Somerset are expected to be at full strength for both matches, with Friday night’s encounter at the Oaktree Arena representing the club’s opening league match of the season, with the matches also pitching 2016 Rebel recruit Rohan Tungate against the club he served for four seasons since first coming over to the UK in 2012.

In addition to Friday night’s match, there will be something extra for the fans with the Revolution JRM JAWA factory race-team in attendance complete with a full race-spec bike, complete with Clipper Lighters Reaction Test Competition which will be running all evening for the fans to ‘have a go’ to test their reactions Against the pro’s with the chance to win a number of prizes.

“As if the match itself wasn’t reason enough for the fans to turn out in force on Friday night, the fact we have the Revolution JRM Factory race-tram here as well for fans to have a go at their reaction test competition makes it a night not to be missed!” said Somerset Promoter Debbie Hancock.

“I know that Rohan is especially keen to ‘put one over’ his old club, so all in all it should be a great a night, both on and off the track!”
