BURNHAM kicked off their Tribute Western Counties West campaign with a 22-7 home win over Sidmouth, writes Robin McCord.

The hosts started in the ascendency, with Sidmouth struggling to get out of their own half.

After losing Richard Muskett to a knee injury after 20 minutes, Alex Watkins kicked Burnham into a 3-0 half time lead.

The first try arrived just after the break when Jordan Paul caught Tim Piper's kick to score, although Piper missed the conversion.

They stretched their lead to 15-0 soon after when Brandon Pettitt scored after picking the ball up from the back of the ruck, this time converted by Piper.

Sidmouth briefly responded with a converted try of their own through their No.8 to make it 15-7, before Burnham completed the win in the last minute when Watkins took the ball from Piper and scored underneath the posts, with Piper again taking care of the extras.
