Wrington Redhill 4, Berrow 2

BERROW fell to their seventh straight league defeat despite mounting an impressive first-half comeback at Wrington Redhill.

The hosts flew out of the traps established a two-goal lead after just 23 minutes thanks to strikes from Liam Knight and Chris Bradley.

Berrow thought they had equalised in between the two strikes but Ryan Stiles saw his effort disallowed for offside.

The visitors were not to be deterred, however, and came roaring back before the break.

Luke McErlain started the fightback when he fired in from 20 yards before David Keirle turned in a rebound on the stroke of half-time to draw the visitors level.

Wrington regained their composure after the break and Josh Patten restored their advantage when he found the top corner from a free-kick.

Luke Patten then sealed the victory as he finished off a slick team move by the hosts to leave Berrow with that now familiar sinking feeling.

Minehead 10, Highbridge Town 1

HIGHBRIDGE were on the receiving end of their second consecutive thumping defeat as they shipped double figures at Minehead on Saturday.

The match started well for the visitors, who took the lead after just six minutes when Kye Whelan found himself in space at the back post and volleyed home, but it was all downhill from there for Town.

Rob Vickers equalised for Minehead before Harry Scatchard and a brace from Damion Redman stretched the lead to 4-1 at the break.

The one-way traffic continued after the restart and Scatchard added two more to seal his hat-trick.

Further goals from Aaron Ireton, Luke Bloys, Stefan Phillips and Luke Howells completed the rout for the hosts, who sealed their biggest home win for more than 80 years in the process.

Highbridge stay 10th and have now conceded 18 in their last two matches.

Banwell 2, Burnham Utd Res 3

BURNHAM United Reserves enjoyed their third win of the season at Banwell in a game that could have gone either way.

The home side were looking dangerous from set pieces and the pressure told when Burnham failed to clear their lines and, from the resulting play, Matt Dibble scored an own goal following a goalmouth scramble.

Burnham came out for the second half with a change of game plan and, with 30 minutes left of the game, Joe Selway was expertly played through by Stuart Green to open Burnham’s account.

Selway then doubled his tally 10 minutes later to move the Reserves into the lead, but Banwell managed to level the scores with 15 minutes left to play.

In the dying stages, Burnham sent everyone up for a free-kick which saw the two centre-halves link up with Dibble supplying the cross and Luc Walker slotted home to give Burnham all three points.
