Somerset County Division 1W
Street Res 1, Burnham Utd 1

BURNHAM travelled to Street Reserves on Saturday full of confidence after an impressive run of four wins in the last six games.

There was early controversy when Burnham were sure that an Jordan Eldridge effort had crossed the line but the referee and linesman didn’t agree.

This made Burnham more determined and, on 12 minutes, Matt Scott played a ball through to Michael Stevens who, with a left-foot strike, put Burnham 1-0 ahead.

Burnham looked strong through the rest of the half and went into the break with their lead intact.

They started the second half positively, keeping Street down to long-range efforts while creating further chances to go 2-0 up.

In the 82nd minute, however, Burnham gave away a penalty which gave Street the equaliser.

Somerset County Division 2W
Burnham United Reserves 0, 1610 Taunton Utd 2

IN a windy first period, Burnham struggled to string passes together and the visitors took the lead midway through the half.

The referee thought that the pressure Matt Dibble put on the striker was worthy of a penalty, which was slotted past keeper James Fowler to make it 1-0.

Burnham continued to look shaky and Taunton doubled their lead just before half-time.

Burnham came out in the second half knowing the conditions would now favour them but Taunton, with a two-goal cushion used their experience to frustrate Burnham and stood solid to take the three points.

Burnham will look at this as a step in the wrong direction after recent improvements in results.
