THE 'Cases' Somerset Rebels will raise the curtain on their 2017 season, which will see the club compete in the top tier of speedway in the UK for the first time in their history, with their season-launching Press & Practice Day on Friday (March 17).

The event will get underway at 3pm with the 2017 riders being introduced and interviewed in front of team sponsors, members of the media, season ticket holders and specially invited guests.

After a buffet, more interviews and photo opportunities, the seven members of the team will take to the track for their official practice session, with the night then being opened up as an open practice session from 7.30pm onwards.

Gates will open at 5.30pm to members of the public to come and watch the on-track practice sessions.

“I must admit to getting very excited now that our season-opening Press Day is just a few days away and the new season is about to commence,” said Somerset promoter Debbie Hancock.

“2017 will see a new chapter started in the history of the club with Somerset competing in the top flight of British Speedway for the very first time, and it has created a new buzz about the Oaktree Arena,” she added.

“As far as the open practice session on Friday evening is concerned, I must stress that places are limited for this.

“Places must be booked in advance by ringing the Oaktree on 01278 782216, when payment for the session, which is £40.00, must also be paid at the time of booking.”
