ALEC Bateman continued his good run of form at Brean as he took to life in Division 1 like the proverbial duck to water, winning his debut event in that flight.

He produced a superb back nine of level par gross to propel himself to the top of the leaderboard in the Monthly Medal ahead of a back-to-form Steve Jones, who returned a nett 66.

Jones would have won either of the other two divisions but was unlucky that Bateman denied him any form of victory.

Division 2 required some detailed countbacks as no fewer than four players scored nett 68s.

Jerry Brueford was the first in the clubhouse on that number and was soon joined by Phil Aspinall. Wayne Barrett added the third one shortly afterwards, and Steve Mason completed the quartet of one-under scores just a few groups later.

After the back nines were scrutinised, Barrett was declared the winner ahead of Mason and Brueford, with Aspinall having to settle for fourth spot.

Roger Phillips was the final winner on the day, as his nett 68 led home Jeff Read by a single stroke in the third division.

The previous day Kevin Davies won the fourth round of the Super Series as he held off Byron Lismore after a countback.

Both players handed in cards of 42 in the Stableford event played from the White Tees, but Davies had the superior back nine score to give him top spot plus the 10 points on offer.

Lismore had to settle for second position, and the nine points that go with it were added to his total. Dave Bradley was third with 41 on a day of excellent scoring.

All of the top three saw their handicaps adjusted in a downward direction as well.

Steve Mason won the final Midweek Stableford of May with 42 points.

Plenty of Ms featured in the top three, with Mats Mattsson finishing as the runner-up, one point behind the winner.

Another M finished third, as Matt Haskins completed the podium positions with 40 points.

Mattsson then went one better by winning the Seniors Stableford on Thursday.

The super Swede headed the Division 2 scorecharts with a 41-point total and with it claimed the Vic Rowe Trophy for the best overall score on the day.

Roger Phillips was runner-up in the second flight with 38 points, which was the same score as the winner in Division 1 accrued.

Barrie Yearsley was the owner of that score and he held a two-point advantage over Ian Adams.

The Ladies played an away match in the sun at Vivary last week, with seven ladies representing the club.

They halved the match overall, and look forward to the return leg at Brean next month.

ENMORE Park Golf Club Ladies’ Captain Linda Annis staged one of her numerous charity events on Sunday in aid of Children in Need (pictured above).

Shanni Whisler, Penny Parker and Tracey Clapp came out on top with a magnificent score of 82 points.

Elsewhere, Saturday’s Bogey Competition produced, as the name might suggest, more bogeys than birdies.

The course was playing long and the wind added to the difficulty.

The winner of the Daniel Cup (18 handicap and below) was Dave Keates on, beating seven other players one shot back.

The over-18 handicap competition was won by Barry Smith, beating Les Nurton on countback, after both scored +2.

Taylor Stote won Enmore’s 36-hole Stroke Play Championship (Enmore Stag) on Sunday, with rounds of 67-71 giving him a five-stroke victory over last year’s winner Curtis Edwards.
