CRAIG Overton has been selected in England's squad for their three T20 matches with South Africa, one of which is in Taunton on June 23.

The Somerset bowler is one of five uncapped players in the squad, which does not include Joe Root or Ben Stokes, rested alongside Moeen Ali, Jake Ball and Adil Rashid following England's ongoing Champions Trophy campaign.

Former King's College student Jos Buttler (now at Lancashire) has been selected.

Overton is set to make his senior England debut alongside Mason Crane (Hampshire), Tom Curran (Surrey), Liam Livingstone (Lancashire) and Dawid Malan (Middlesex).

Chairman of Selectors James Whitaker said: “The IT20 series against South Africa presents us with an opportunity to incorporate several players who have come through the talent pathway into the senior group.

"The squad has an exciting blend of youth and experience and we are looking forward to a competitive series against strong opposition.

"With five uncapped players selected, there is undoubted talent coming through the system and we are excited to see some of these players showcase their skills at the highest level.

“Liam Livingstone, Dawid Malan, Tom Curran and Craig Overton have impressed for the England Lions over the past 12 months and have transferred their skills across all formats, in particular with their respective counties."

The England squad will meet up in Southampton on June 20, ahead of their three matches, which are as follows:
First NatWest IT20, Ageas Bowl, Southampton (Wednesday, June 21, 6.30pm)
Second NatWest IT20, The Cooper Associates County Ground, Taunton (Friday, June 23, 5pm)
Third NatWest IT20, The SSE SWALEC Stadium, Cardiff (Sunday, June 25, 2.30pm)
