Western Counties West
Sidmouth 40, Burnham-on-Sea 10

BURNHAM travelled to the Devon coast with a full 18 players but unfortunately met a side who were on top of their game.

By and large Burnham put in a committed performance, but it wasn’t quite good enough on the day.

Looking ahead, Burnham have a good crop of youngsters who will stand them in good stead for the future.

Sidmouth ran in six tries, with Ethan Mead collecting a hat-trick and Haydon Down, Sam Meadham and Rory O’Brien also going over.

Burnham replied through a well-worked try for Scott Havercroft from a tap penalty late on.

The score was converted by Tim Piper, who also kicked a penalty goal.

This was a good effort by Burnham, who remain bottom of the table and are without a match on Saturday.

Somerset 2 South
Burnham-on-Sea 2nds 72, Bridgwater & Albion 3rds 0

SATURDAY was a better day for Burnham 2nds, who thumped local rivals Bridgwater & Albion 3rds 72-0 to continue their good form in Somerset Two South.

Burnham were too good for their opponents and the winning margin could have been bigger.

Ryan Beard ran in a hat-trick, while second row Jacob Blyth was also among the raft of scorers.

The victory consolidated Burnham’s position in fourth in the division, but they will be unable to build on the confidence-boosting win this weekend as, like the first XV, they are without a match on Saturday.
