SOMERSET all-rounder Peter Trego has re-affirmed his desire to play in all competitions after making an excellent start to the Royal London One-Day Cup campaign.

Trego followed up his 2-23 in Friday's win at Surrey with 56 and 2-53 against Glamorgan in Taunton as Somerset made it two wins from two.

The 36-year-old has not yet played in the County Championship so far this season and has already bowled six times as many overs in this year's one-day campaign as he did last year, having sent down just three in the whole competition in 2017.

Speaking after the win over Glamorgan, Trego said: "I'm loving my cricket.

"I'm out there to enjoy it and do as well as I can for the team.

"I'm still desperate to play all formats. I'm enjoying captaining the 2s, and the guys who are playing in the Championship are doing a tremendous job, but I feel fresh and ready to go.

"At heart I'm still an all-rounder and I want to be involved with bat and ball, as that brings the best out of me."

On the test of bowling at Colin Ingram and Shaun Marsh, he said: "It was a real challenge, but an enjoyable one - I've hardly bowled a ball in one-day cricket for two years.

"At Taunton you have to accept you will be hit for six at times and I think, with us being used to that as the home side, that works to our advantage. Sometimes bowlers from other teams get a bit emotional and lose their heads, but we are used to it - Tim Groenewald was saying to us in the huddle after every wicket 'don't worry if you get hit for six, just come back strong'.

"Seeing James [Hildreth] play as well as he did was a real privilege as well - he played with a touch of genius at times."

Trego went on to discuss the positive atmosphere around the club, which has only been strengthened by their unbeaten start.

"It's a great mix, as there are those of us like myself and Hildy who were here when Sarge [Andy Hurry] was here before and the younger lads who have come through the academy with Jason [Kerr]," he said.

"That means it's a club full of longstanding relationships, which is really nice to be a part of."
