THE Enmore Stag 2018 36 hole Scratch open medal took place on Monday with the Stag Trophy up for grabs.

That put them two clear of from Christine Hannam and Diana Webster in second and three ahead of Shelia Bowden and Daphne Priddy.

In the nine-hole competition it was the team of Gwen Lovett, Lorna Parker & Lynn Slocombe who won by scoring 34 points.

Countback decided Division One of the Men’s Stableford with Andrew Merrick and Liam Neal both scoring 38 points, but Merrick took it on countback while Martin Innalls was third with 37 points.

On a superb Spring day Enmore Seniors entertained their counterparts from the Exeter Golf & Country Club.

With lots of warm sunshine the Enmore course was looking at its best, although the visiting captain described the greens as challenging.

Of the seven groups Enmore registered wins in five of them with one halved and the last pairing the only ones to suffer a setback, thus running in convincing winners by 5 and a half matches to 1 and a half.

A fantastic 7 & 5 win by Tim Smith with Keith Calvert lead the way; other winners were Jim Potticary with David Keates (4 & 2), Jim Smith with John Earp and Jeff Saunders with Ben Gliddon (both 3 & 2), captain Graham Pain with Paul Waplington (1 up), while Ray Hancock with David Taylor gained the half point.

On another superbly sunny day Enmore Seniors travelled to the East Devon course at Budleigh Salterton, coming away with the exact same score line as the Exeter match, alas not in their favour.

The Devon greens were ultra fast and local knowledge was a bonus.

Enmore’s sole point was won by John Earp with Keith Calvert by 1 up whilst captain Graham Pain with David Pascoe gained a half point in the captain’s pairing.

On Saturday Tom Canavan and Harry Beynon were the winners of the Junior Loder Shield, a four ball better ball competition.

Both boys played some stunning golf to win the first main event of the season.

On Sunday the junior team played in the latest league match at Taunton and Pickeridge, with Ollie Thomas taking runners-up spot with 42 points in the individual event.

Enmore host the next round of the league matches, this coming Sunday.

They travelled to the tricky tree-lined Taunton course and again Brean were defeated, going down by 3.5 games to 2.5.
