LAST Wednesday the Enmore Park Ladies played in two competitions.

The Leffman Trophy was won by Maureen Veale with 35 stableford points.

Jenny Hawkins and Judy Hancock also had 35 points, but Veale won on countback.

The Edney Trophy was won by Angie Bowden with 33 stableford points.

On Friday, June 1, the More Trophy, an annual competition, was played against the Isle of Wedmore Golf Club, at Enmore Park.

The four ball betterball match, played in glorious sunshine, was a close game enjoyed by all, and at the end it was the Isle of Wedmore who won, 176 points to 172.

Enmore's mixed team travelled to Wedmore on a glorious Sunday afternoon.

They won the greensomes event 5½-4½, with the crucial half coming from lady captain Jackie Bull and club captain Paul Thorogood.

The Saturday Medal was won by Craig Cook (Division 1) with a nett 67 while, in Division 2, Richard Sykes won with nett 70, and Division 3 it was Justin Hooper (nett 72) who triumphed.

MIKE Hurman was a confident man when he signed in for the June Medal on Sunday morning at Brean Golf Club.

And he backed up this confidence ably by promptly winning Division Two and returning the best score of the day, too.

His nett 66 saw him home by one shot ahead of Byron Lismore.

Lismore’s score of 67 was matched by the Division One winner Alec Bateman.

Early starter Bateman reduced his handicap to 11 with a two-stroke win over Jason Kidley.

Division Three was secured by Roger Phillips with a nett 68, leaving him one clear of Steve Martin and David Morris, with Martin getting second after the countback.

The latest round of the Super Series went to Murray Parsons with a superb score of 43 points.

His margin of victory in the Individual Stableford event was only a single point, though, from Barry Brindley with Paul Bacon taking third spot on 39.

The Ladies’ Section held the inaugural Ladies’ Captain v Vice-Captain match last week.

It was a closely-contested game but was won 3-2 by ladies’ captain Sue Wright’s team of Millie, Linda, Debbie and Shirley.

They defeated vice-captain Lyn Bird’s team of Liz, Bev, Carole and Irene in an enjoyable match which will be repeated.

The Avalon League Division Three side picked up a valuable away win last weekend at The Mendip.

Matt Shaw led his side to a 3-2 victory and they collected a tidy haul of league points in the process.

The victory keeps them ahead of Wedmore.
