BURNHAM United begin their new Uhlsport Somerset County League Division 1 campaign with a trip to Minehead on Saturday.
The league has had a reshuffle over the summer, but Burnham remain in Division 1 - the second tier of the league structure - after finishing in a comfortable mid-table position in last season’s Division 1 West.
A trip to Minehead, who finished sixth last time out, is a tough way to start for Burnham, though they have picked up a couple of impressive wins in their friendlies.
Their most recent pre-season encounter saw Jamie Merrick and Jordie Eldridge net in a 2-1 win over Worle, while United also overcame Melksham Town Reserves 4-2 with Joe Selway, Tom Hurley (2) and Mike Stevens on target.
They were less successful against Middlezoy Rovers, the County League Premier side winning 5-1, and Nailsea United, who won 2-0.
United’s first home game is next Saturday (August 18) when Keynsham Town Reserves are the visitors.
Burnham United Reserves line up in Division 3 this season and begin their season at home to Tunley Athletic on Saturday.
Newly-formed Burnham United Ladies have three more friendlies before their Somerset Women’s League Division 1 campaign starts at home to Wellington on September 2.
