Boxer Lizzie earns standing ovation

KING Alfred ABC boxer Lizzie Hughes put in a classy performance at the showground at Shepton Mallet.

She was up against Jade Toogood, from Frome ABC, who attends the girls’ academy of boxing in Bristol.

Both girls took part in a skills bout and in the end were both winners.

In the first two rounds it was single shots only but in the third round it was jabs and rear hands. Lizzie, being the taller girl, was out-jabbing Jade.

It was an outstanding performance by both girls and they quite rightly received a standing ovation.

On Sunday morning coach Roger Cross, from King Alfred ABC, had a phone call asking Lizzie to attend the boxing academy in Bristol.
