Burnham RFC receives seal of approval

BURNHAM RFC has received a seal of approval award from the Rugby Football Union.

Hardworking Mark Watkins, Elaine Paul and other members from the club visited Recreation Ground in Bath to collect the award ahead of the England Saxons against Ireland A game.

Former Bath and England favourite Phil de Glanville presented them with certificates endorsing its commitment to examining, maintaining and improving the provision of rugby within its respective mini and junior sections.

The seal of approval scheme has been around since 2002 and is run in conjunction with the Sport England clubman scheme to ensure safe, effective and child-friendly standards are met in the RFU’s member clubs across the country.

Mark Watkins said: “It has been two years hard work getting it all together but it’s been fantastic.

“It’s a good achievement for the club and we’ll also be opening new changing rooms very shortly, so it’s all very good news at the moment.”
