1:00pm Friday 15th June 2012 in Sport By Daniel Milligan
WEDMORE fell to a four wicket defeat against North Curry on Saturday in Division Two of the Somerset Shrubbery cricket league.
Scott Harris (16) and Alister Cave (23) got Wedmore off to a solid start before Martyn Boley provided the mainstay to the innings with a classy 54.
Matt Drew (23) and Phillip Patch (17 not out) were the only other real contributors as Wedmore closed on 173-9.
In reply, Wedmore were unable to make early inroads as all of North Curry's top four hit scores but two wickets apiece for Tom Stevens (2-37), Boley (2-52) and Liam Young (2-18) did stall North Curry briefly.
In Division 8NE, Mark 2nds match against Wedmore 2nds was cancelled due to the wet weather.
And in Division 9NW, Wedmore 'A' suffered a hefty defeat to Weston super Mare 4ths as they were routed for 64 with only A Patch (22) and E Curtin (13) contributing in double figures.
Curtin and J McQuarrie grabbed a wicket apiece but the visitors eased their way to victory.
East Huntspill 2nds also fell to a loss in their match with Banwell and Churchill 2nds. S Morely top scored for Huntspill with a dogged 31 in his side's total of 106 but it wasn't enough as the home side ran out five-wicket win.
L Adams was the pick of the East Huntspill attack in reply as he claimed 3-33.
Huntspill and Districts 2nds had to cancel their match against Chilton Polden 2nds after wet weather made their pitch unplayable.
