Burnham travelled to the Memorial ground at Watchet on Saturday but rain intervened to deny either team a result.

The coin fell in Watchet's favour and Burnham were invited to bat and Peter Gaylard was removed in the first over to the impressive left arm medium fast Dominic Bowden.

Darren Aston joined Duncan Harvey and they put together a good partnership of 57, the former being the main contributor as he struck four powerful boundaries before he was bowled.

Burnham's powerhouse bat Clifton went for a quick 11 and skipper Phil White joined Harvey eventually departed for a useful and stubborn 25 which had stabilised the innings.

Jim Birkett and Lee Coles played aggressively to push things along in the last four overs but both fell to flamboyant shots as Burnham closed on 147-9.

After the break, Birkett bowled a lively over, three times beating Pete Manley's outside edge interspersed by Manley's excellent cover drive for four.

But the rain came in the second over and the teams were unable to resume play.
