Burnham 133-6 beat Bradenham 79-6 by 54 runs
BURNHAM hosted Bradenham from Buckinghamshire on their summer after their league campaign was washed out.
The home side were invited to bat in a reduced 30 overs a side contest with Brad House opening along with Andy Ashfold.
Progress was understandably slow in the tricky batting conditions as the hosts crept to 22 without loss in the seventh over, both Bradenham medium pacers bowling a very tight line.
The deadlock was broken in the next over when Roberts had House adjudged lbw for eight and he was replaced by Ben Adams who in tandem with Ashfold produced a stand of 53 which formed the backbone of the innings.
Both players judiciously mixed attack and defence as Ashfold struck four fours and a rare six and Adams a couple of good pulls for four as well.
The score had reached 75 in the 20th over when a delivery from change bowler Scott Myers stuck in the pitch a little to have Ashfold caught for 42, bringing Rob Wheatley to the crease he continued
the Burnham progress with 22 inc one four and a fine six off the leg spin of Damien Farar Hockley, the latter eventually having Dave Steer caught at deep mid on after Adams was stumped off Myers
for 35.
Wheatley was bowled in the 27th over with the total at 120, leaving just enough time for Pete Harris and Jake Harding to get the total to 133-6 in the allotted 30 overs.
After the tea interval, Bradenham set off in search of 134 for victory, John Roberts and captain Smith facing Jim Birkett and Mike Green with both batters struggling to come to terms with pace of
Stuart Green.
John Roberts was bowled by Green in the sixth over and Pete Roberts fell to a Brad House catch, to the bowling of Jim Birkett.
Andy Birkett and Pete Harris followed with miserly spells, Birkett removing the potentially dangerous Cooper for four and Harris clean bowling the aggresive Andy Smith as he looked for quick runs
to reduce the visitors to 52-5 in the 22nd over.
Brad House and Jake Harding then saw Burnham home with some accurate bowling as House dismissed Chris Farar, Hockley was smartly stumped by stand in keeper Brian Brogden and the Bradenham innings petered out to 74-6 in their 30 overs.
