Somerset Shrubbery League cricket round-up
THE penultimate match of the season for most of our sides was ruined by the weather as many of the matches were cancelled to waterlogged pitches.
In Division 2, Wedmore's match with Barrington fell foul to the conditions but in Division 3Huntspill and District tied in an exciting match at Bagborough.
The home side batted first and were restricted to 121 thanks to excellent bowling from Huntspill's S Lillycrop (5-17) and C Organ (3-36).
In reply, Lillycrop hit a superb half century with S Eley (31) but once the opening pair were dismissed, the rest of the line-up capitulated and they too fell for 121.
Division 5 side East Huntspill also tied in their clash with Trull as they chased down the home side's total of 107.
P Bagg (3-41) and I Cooke (2-21) restricted well with the ball and in reply D Kidner and R Pomeroy hit 18 apiece but they could only tie for the loss of eight wickets to take a share of the points.
Mark completed a comprehensive win over Leigh on Mendip. After bowling the visitors out for 104 thanks to a superb spell of bowling from M Mitchell (6-24), Simon Cattermole continued his excellent run of form to smash an unbeaten 79 and lead Mark to victory.
In Division 8NE, Mark 2nds fell to a ten wicket defeat against Wells after they were routed for 72. Wedmore 2nds and Horrington 2nds were also cancelled.
Division 8S saw Burnham 2nds against Watchet 2nds fall foul to the weather and in Division 9NW Wedmore A were awarded the full 30 points after Uphill Castle Crusaders were unable to raise a team.
Huntspill and District 2nds had to call their match off against Weston super Mare 4ths.
