DISAPPOINTED Somerset skipper Marcus Trescothick admitted that they were well-beaten by Hampshire in their T20 Finals day semi-final defeat last weekend to Hampshire.
Trescothick said: “It’s always very disappointing to have got to this point because we put in a lot of hard work into such a great day and we all know just how important it is but we were outplayed today.
“I thought Dimitri Mascarenhas was good the way that he strangled us at the top of the order at the start and we put ourselves under pressure by losing wickets. “Craig Kieswetter was the only one who got to grips with the pitch and worked it out. You need to get partnerships going in T20 cricket and we never did that today.
“I thought we fielded OK and put ourselves in with a shout and in the middle period when we took wickets was when the game came back to us.
“But then, those two at the end who have played a lot of international cricket between them, were exactly the sort of heads you want coming in when the going gets tough.”
