HIGHBRIDGE Town spokesman Terry Earl said this season has been the worst start for a number of years after both teams fell to heavy defeats at the weekend.

The first team lost 6-2 to Bridgwater Sports, despite pulling a 3-0 deficit back to 3-2 at half-time thanks to two Wayne Hand goals. But a torrid second half, compounded by unavailabilities and an ankle injury to striker Stuart Green, meant the team crumbled to a 6-2 loss.

The Reserves didn’t fare any better as they were trounced 14-1 by Sydenham Rangers.

Earl said: “We have so many players missing it is so tough for the manager and the teams together.

“If we do not get these players back we could be looking at relegation.”

The first team travel to Locomotives while the Reserves travel to Stogursey in the Somerset Intermediate Cup. Both matches are a 2.30pm kick off.
