Burnham II 7, Crewkerne 48

WITH the home side looking to improve on last week's performance, captain Matt Slater had acquired himself several returning players from last season.

Podge Barrington, Richard Welland, Tiny, Manny and Glenn Cutter came in helped by first team players Bobby Hewlett, Lloyd Steward and George Scott.

Despite the inclusions, the home side found themselves three tries down after the first 15 minutes.

Burnham began to settle down for the next 10 minutes but could not gain any momentum when ball in hand.

The home side did manage to score before the half time whistle with Lloyd Steward collecting the ball at the back of a ruck and forcing his way over which was gladly converted by Will Conway to trail 26-7 at the break.

The second half display by the home side was much improved but it was clearly visible that the visitors were well drilled.

Still, at no point during the game did their heads drop which was well respected by the visitors as the score finished 48-7 to Crewkerne.

This Saturday they travel to Martock with a 3pm kick off.

Burnham Rusty Antlers will be dusting off their boots on Saturday 6th October with a friendly fixture against Imperial RFC at the BASC at 2.00pm followed by the 1st XV versus Barton Hill at 3pm.
