Burnham II 34, Wiveliscombe 19
BURNHAM put in an impressive performance to see off league leaders Wiveliscombe in convincing fashion on Saturday.
The hosts crossed five times through Sam Wall, Wills Conway, Elisi Vunipola, Ed Lewis and George Willcox to secure a ninth win of the season.
Wall opened the scoring for Burnham, taking advantage of some good work from Elisi Vunipola, before Conway added a penalty.
Conway then scored and converted a try of his own to extend the lead to 17-0 – and shortly before half-time, Elisi Vunipola touched down for Burnham’s third try of the afternoon.
Wivey pulled a try back to make the half-time score 22-7, but Burnham came out firing once again after the interval secure a bonus point with a fine individual score from Ed Lewis.
The visitors clawed back a try but Burnham hit back almost immediately as Matt Slater offloaded to George Willcox to score in the corner.
Again, the visitors came back and, in the final minutes of the game, Wivey pulled a try back to make the scoreline a little more respectable.
Burnham II line up against Hornets away, on Saturday.
