Bridgwater & Albion III 49, Burnham II 33

BURNHAM II went down in an action-packed local derby with Bridgwater III on Saturday.

Bridgwater scrambled over for the first try of the afternoon, soon followed by a second.

The Burnham forwards began to gel and the backs were being fed good ball from Jake Harding.

Wills Conway was exploiting the weaker visitors backline and this eventually paid off when Sam Wall broke out to scored under the posts, Conway converted.

This followed a consolidated phase of play by the visitors, but Bridgwater ticked the scoreboard over with a well taken drop goal.

It was the home side scored the next try, using their pack to power over in the left corner.

The response was almost immediate - straight from the kick-off, the backs exploited a gap on the left wing and Massie Shaw was the receiver of a move from Watkins and Conway, which Smith in support finished off. The second-half saw Bridgwater on the rampage and they quickly asserted their lead with a further score.

This saw the game settle down into a battle for dominance and it was clear that Burnham were still in the game. Bridgwater were always dangerous and scored again in the bottom left corner.

This sparked off a try-fest, with both sides scoring in direct reply to each other - a further two tries were added by Mason Shaw - and Nathan Smith and Chris Warner added one each.
