Burnham II 29 Morganians II 14

BURNHAM ran in four tries to secure a bonus-point victory over local rivals and league leaders Morganians on Saturday.

Tim Piper (2), Elliot Donnelly and Ben Gibb were all on the score sheet for Burnham II in an impressive display from the home side.

Morganians player coach Elisi Vunipola was back at the BASC Ground and he led the Morganians forwards into the Burnham half.

Piper kicked an early penalty for Burnham, before they scored their first try of the afternoon.

From a penalty, Burnham kicked to touch, won the line out and the ball was fed to Mason Shaw who sucked in three defenders in midfield before he was hauled down.

This resulted in an overlap created out wide and Elliot Donnelly sped over in the corner.

Morgs pulled a try back through their number eight, but in an ironic twist to the game, a long pass by Elisi Vunipola was intercepted by former teammate, Tim Piper who ran clear to dive under the posts.

Burnham were not done before the half and Piper ran through a gap to give Burnham a 22 -7 at half-time.

After the break, Morgs could not live with Burnham and when Watkins linked back up with Gibb he went over in the corner.

The game hotted up with both sides looking to finish on a flurry, but it was Morgs who finished with a well worked try in midfield.

Burnham 2’s do not have a game next week with the World Cup final being played.

The next game is away to Minehead's on October 7.
