Western Counties West
Burnham-on-Sea 3, Tiverton 19
BURNHAM-ON-SEA RFC’s winless run continued as they lost to Tiverton on Saturday.
The club’s relegation was confirmed last week and their only points against their fellow strugglers came via a penalty from the boot of Tim Piper.
Captain Ross McKechan said: “It was a tight battle and both teams worked hard.
“Unfortunately, they got an early try and it was hard for us to come back from that.
“We had opportunities and spent a lot of time in their half, but poor decision making let us down.
“We haven’t won since January so confidence has taken a hit, but the boys showed grit and stuck at it really well.”
Burnham 2nds defeated Tor 52-8 in Somerset 2 South.
Both teams have the Easter weekend off, with Burnham 1sts returning to action at Torquay Athletic - who could yet go down with them - on Saturday, April 7.
