PROFESSIONAL rugby player Chris Morgan, a former Burnham mini and junior, will be playing for Cornish Pirates in National Division One next season.
The 26-year-old, 17-stone flanker (right), whose family live in Worston Road, Highbridge, has spent the last two seasons with Pirates' National One rivals Newbury after having been released by Bristol.
However, Newbury have had to cut costs drastically because of mounting debts and have been forced to give their ten full-time players, including Morgan, 90 days' notice of termination of their contracts.

He has signed a two-year deal with the Cornish club, but will see out the season with Newbury.
The former England U-18 and U-21 international, had a successful spell on loan with the Pirates, then known as Penzance-Newlyn, when he was with Bristol.
He said: "I was going to leave Newbury anyway at the end of the season. I have had offers from other clubs, including in the Premiership, but I just want to play rugby, not be on the bench every week.
"I enjoyed my previous spell down in Cornwall, averaging a try every two games. The Pirates are very ambitious, aiming for Premiership status and a new stadium which they will share with Truro City Football Club."
He added: "Having been in the Premiership with Bristol, I would like to play at that level again and I hope that it can be with Pirates."
Morgan is in co-ownership of a house in Bristol with former Bridgwater & Albion prop Mark Irish, who has just been recalled to Bristol after a season on loan to Newbury.
The Pirates currently train at Penzance and play at Camborne, so Morgan will be moving to Cornwall. "I'll rent a place down there to start with, then look to buy somewhere," he said.
