JUST two games survived the relentless wet weather this week, but only one result will count.

Blagdon Hill were emphatic 7-0 winners at Norton Fitzwarren in the quarter final of the Somerset Intermediate Cup, thanks to a hat-trick from Pat Sherwood.

It was Blagdon Hill’s first game in four weeks – and the game started off fairly even with a lot of miss placed passes due to lack of match sharpness.

Norton had a goal disallowed for obstruction on the ‘keeper, which was enough of a warning to kick start Blagdon into action.

Pat Sherwood converted a penalty after 20 minutes following a handball, and quickly added to his tally finishing a nice move five minutes later.

He completed his hat trick just before half time sending the visitors in 3-0 at half time.

In the second half, following some constructive criticism, Blagdon pushed on.

Al Stevens curled in a brilliant free kick from 25 yards - and not to be outdone, Pat Sherwood then struck a free kick from 35 yards straight into the top corner for his fourth and Blagdon’s fifth.

Liam Vaughan, who worked hard from the start of the match, chipped in with two further goals to complete a 7-0 victory to take Blagdon Hill into the semi finals.

The Friday night game between Nether Stowey Reserves and Sampford Blues didn’t take place, with Sampford awarded the away win – and Dulverton Reserves were awarded the game against Creech Cougars after the latter played an ineligible player.
