IT was one-way traffic for Wiveliscombe in the Taunton & District Saturday League’s Seward Cup quarter final, as they hammered Bridgwater Sports 8-1.

Both Lloyd Cuthbert and George Sinnott hit a hat-tricks for Wivey, with Andrew Davis and Edd French adding the other two – Mason Gill got Sports’ consolation.

In the last quarter-final, The Gallery were 2-0 winners against Milverton Rangers thanks to goals from Jake Croker and James Bawden.

Division 1 leaders Highbridge Town were given a scare in the Rowbarton Cup quarter-final as they snuck past Division 2 side Dulverton 2-1. Chris Taylor opened the scoring for Highbridge before an own goal doubled the lead. Will Lewis pulled one back for Dulverton from the penalty spot but, despite good pressure, they were unable to get the equaliser.

In Division 1, Sampford Blues were comfortable 5-2 winners against Bishops Lydeard, thanks to goals from Paul Pocock (2), Jack Kelly, Craig Lawrence and Matt Holmes.

Porlock beat North Petherton 2-1, while Staplegrove Reserves lost a nine-goal thriller 5-4 to ten-man Alcombe Rovers.

Adam Smith got a pair with Scott Reynolds and Paul Hadley adding one each for The Grove, but two from Ali Harrison, one each from Luke Howells and Andrew Land with the late winner from sub and player/manager Jason Hill earned all three points for Rovers to move them above Staplegrove.

Appletree Tone Youth have extended their lead at the top of Division 2 to nine points after beating second placed side Wyvern Rangers 2-0. Matt Webster scored one and Wyvern unfortunately for them provided the other.

Wembdon are still in third but have closed the gap on Wyvern following their 3-2 away win at Hamilton Athletic. Wembdon raced into a 2-0 lead with a header from Ben Cheffey and a penalty from Dan Casson.

Hamilton pulled a goal back before the break from Tom Wadham and equalised in the second half through Wayne Cook, only for Tim Richards to score a late winner for Wembdon.

Westonzoyland beat Nether Stowey 2-0 and Minehead were 2-1 winners at home to Stogursey.

With second placed Gallery on Cup duty, Division 3 leaders Morganians extended their lead at the top of the table with a 2-1 home win over Highbridge Town Reserves. Andrew James and Matt Brewer scored for Morganians; Mark Chapman got the Highbridge goal.

Alcombe Rovers Reserves beat Galmington Dragons 5-2 thanks to a brace from Jack Bodley and one each from Troy Hopwood, Lee Jones and Ian Lowe, Oliver Tucker.

In Division 4, Exmoor Rangers made sure of closing the gap at the top with a 9-0 thrashing of Williton. Clinton Kneeshaw netted a hat-trick as Exmoor cruised to victory.

It was the same score at Porlock where their Reserves were on the wrong side of the result to Woolavington.

Josh Corkett hit a hat-trick, Simon Coombes got a pair, with Connor O’Neil, Jonny Hunt, Lewis Hembury and Liam Neil all added one.

It was a much closer affair at Dulverton where their Reserves went down 3-5 to Norton Fitzwarren.

Sampford Blues Reserves beat Rhode Lane Wanderers 6-0, thanks to an Alex Evans brace – and North Petherton Reserves and Nether Stowey shared the points in a 1-1 draw.

Ash Rangers drew 2-2 with Bridgwater Grasshoppers in Division 5 – and Staplegrove Colts’ 8-1 thrashing of Bridgwater Wolves moves them up level on points with second placed Wiveliscombe, with youngster Kurtis Selway hitting his first senior hat-trick, The highest score of the day was an 11-2 victory for Hamilton Athletic Foxes over Norton Fitzwarren Reserves. Chris McKee scored four times in a goal frenzy.

There were a lot fewer goals at Middlezoy Athletic where they drew 1-1 with Creech Cougars and Galmington Reserves went down 1-3 to East Bower.
