Frome Collegians 4, Berrow 0

A YOUNG Berrow side crashed to a fifth defeat in six games as they went down 4-0 at Frome Collegians on Saturday.

Three second half-goals from the hosts quickly put the game beyond Berrow’s reach, after a mistake from ‘keeper Slack had let Frome in for their opener.

With six players unavailable, Berrow were forced to make numerous changes to personnel and formation and with 17-year-olds Tom Yates and Jordy Eldridge starting upfront.

The home team settled into the game first, playing on the break - but Berrow began to find their feet and were causing some problems for the back four, without seriously testing the keeper.

Shaun Lismore, Jack Shepherd and Yates all had shots blocked - and with Eldridge getting more involved, Berrow looked most likely to open the scoring.

But they fell behind on the half-hour mark when a poor kick from ‘keeper Slack was put back over his head into the back of the net.

Kyle McErlain started a quick passing move down the middle off the pitch, with Eldridge slipping Yates in - but he pulled his shot wide.

Despite pressing for an equalizer, Berrow only forced the keeper to make one save, turning Eldridge’s shot away for a corner.

The second half began terribly for Berrow when a cross was headed home from 10 yards.

Eldridge and Yates linked up to free Steve Osgood, but his shot went straight at the keeper - and Yates spurned another chance when shooting straight at the ‘keeper.

The home side made it three when another cross was headed home at the far post – and although Eldridge, Yates and Shepherd were all working hard to get Berrow a way back into the game, Frome hit them on the break to make it 4-0 on 75 minutes.
