Somerset County Premier

Berrow 4, Yatton Athletic 1

BERROW made it three wins in a row for the first time this season with a 4-1 victory at home to Yatton.

Jack Taylor netted a hat-trick for the hosts, who climb to 12th in Somerset County Premier.

The home side got off to the perfect start with Yatton having barely touched the ball, when great work from Tom Yates and Steve Osgood down the left, led to Jack Taylor scoring with a diving header from six yards.

Ross McErlain was then taken out of the game after a nasty challenge from the Yatton striker led to him being replaced by Jack Shepherd with just five minutes on the clock.

This didn’t affect Berrow as they dominated possession, with Taylor going close with another header before Yates showed good footwork to test the keeper from 20 yards.

On 20 minutes they did make it two - Jack Smith freeing Taylor and he glided past his man to slot home giving the keeper no chance.

Berrow were completely dominant all over the pitch with James Reddish and Yates giving the full backs problems and Luke McErlain and Ash Catlow controlling possession.

Kyle McErlain had a chip cleared off the line before with minutes of the half remaining a half cleared corner was fed back into the box and fell to the Yatton striker who made no mistake from eight yards.

Berrow started the second-half still in control and dominating a Yatton side who were throwing themselves into challenges, but could not force a breakthrough - and Nick Slack had to make a great save when Yatton had a rare attack.

Dave Keirle replaced smith up front and within minutes his pass fed Taylor who freed Yates and when his shot was saved, it was Taylor who followed it up to complete his hat-trick.

From the kick-off Berrow went straight on the attack and Taylor crossed from the right to Keirle who headed home from five yards.

Berrow continued to play some good attacking football and Lloyd Dean twice went close to extending the lead.

Luke McErlain struck the bar with a delicate chip from the edge of the box and dean couldn’t force the rebound home. Mom James Gass.
