LEADERS Bridgwater Sports strengthened their position at the top of the Taunton & District Saturday League Division 1 table as they beat Staplegrove Sports 6-0 thanks to goals from Piers Govier, Shane Smith, Dean Organ (2) and Paul Organ (2).

Locomotives and Middlezoy Rovers Reserves went in at the break at 1-1, Adam Prescott having scored for Rovers, but Locos upped their game in the second half and won the game 4-1 with two goals from Ryan Vickery and one each from Kieran Wyatt and James Weaver.

Wyvern Rangers lost 4-0 at Tone Youth – and it was the same score line at Porlock where North Petherton were beaten 4-0.

The Gallery were 2-1 winners at Wembdon in Division 2 in a good spirited local derby with both sides playing for the win.

Gallery took the lead through a long throw from Luke Selway that was headed out to Jack Griffiths to volley home from 25 yards.

The game continued evenly until half-time but, five minutes after the interval, Jamie Evans jinked a way through to fire home from 10 yards to make it 2-0 Gallery.

The remainder of the half was Wembdon pushing for a way back; they did get one back with a set piece which Olly Jones got a head to. Wembdon exerted more pressure by couldn’t find a way through the Gallery back line.

Morganians had a good 5-1 away win at Nether Stowey for whom Lionel Crow scored – Ben Chorley hit a hat-trick for Morganians and Andrew James got the other two.

In Division 3, third-place Woolavington had the chance to close the gap a little at the top, but Galmington Reserves had different ideas, winning the game 3-1.

Bridgwater Sports Reserves beat Norton Fitzwarren 3-0 with John Wilde scoring a brace, both from the penalty spot. Mason Gill got the third.

Dan Russell scored the only goal of the game for Redgate to give them three points against Exmoor Rangers.

In Division 4, Bridgwater Grasshoppers beat Staplegrove 2-1.

Kurtis Selway put Grove in front but Grasshoppers equalised when defender Simon Ware stumbled, leaving Rob Adams an easy route to goal and Shane Thompson made sure Grasshoppers took home the points when he scored.

Two goals in the last minute of the first half from Jake Harris at close range and Lloyd Cuthbert with a shot across the goalkeeper after a brilliant through ball from Sam Scriven, put Wivey in control against Middlezoy Athletic, eventually winning 3-1.

Division 5 leaders Bridgwater Sports Colts stay top despite losing to Bridgwater Wolves 3-4 – Ed Howes scored twice for Sports and Craig Savage one.

Brad Walford was the Wolves’ hero with a hat-trick and Jack Crook scored the fourth.

Morganians Reserves had a 5-3 away win at Norton Fitzwarren Reserves with George Weston scoring two, Toby Gillard, Dan Frost and Sam Weston adding one each. On the scoresheet for Norton were Conor Bosley and Jake Wych with two.
