Somerset County Division Two West
Burnham United Reserves 1, Uphill Castle 2
BURNHAM United Reserves slipped to a narrow defeat at the hands of Uphill Castle on Saturday, in a game they were unlucky to come away from empty-handed.
Burnham started the first-half well and created good chances from wingers Owen Jandrell and Harry Wedgewood-Potts.
Alec Wilkins had a good chance, but narrowly missed the target - before Goalkeeper Fraser McDiarmid kept the scores at 0-0 at half time, with a great save.
In the second-half, Burnham scored early on when Mike Stevens fired home a free-kick - and this inspired Burnham and they were on top for the opening exchanges of the second half.
However, as the game went on, Uphill got stronger as Burnham tired.
They scored two goals on 70 and 75 minutes - and despite Burnham's best efforts to equalise, the away goalkeeper was up to the task.
With other results going against Burnham, the team finds themselves rooted to the bottom of the table, but they are competing much better and are confident that results will improve.
TEAM: McDiarmid, Young, Warren, Lamb, Butt (Garrett), Jandrell, Stevens, Hardwidge, Wedgewood-Potts (Kilbane), Wilkins, Ford (Lockyer)
