Berrow 7, Minehead 2

JACK Taylor was in red-hot form for Berrow as they thrashed Minehead to complete an emphatic double over the West Somerset side.

Jack Smith, James Reddish, Dave Keirle and Luke McErlain were also on target for Berrow in an eighth win of the season.

Berrow made the perfect start to the game, opening the scoring after just 15 seconds with scot Lismore sending Jack Smith away and he finished superbly from 10 yards.

It was two inside four minutes as another Lismore pass found Jack Taylor, who lobbed the ball over the advancing keeper.

It was one-way traffic and could have been three after 10 minutes when a lovely move down the left ended with Taylor crossing for Smith to finish, but an offside flag ended Berrow’s joy.

Minehead had a spell of pressure with Nick Slack saving a header from a corner, but it was Berrow who looked most likely to score again - Steve Leaf on his return to the club lobbed just wide when put in by Taylor.

Berrow did make it three when James Reddish picked up on a loose ball and shot home off the post from 20 yards.

Minehead changed formation to begin the second-half, in a bid to compete in midfield - but with Luke McErlain and Ash Catlow on top of their game, Berrow still dominated possession.

They did concede when a lapse in concentration let the Minehead winger run in and lob Slack on 60 minutes.

Berrow soon struck back, with Dave Keirle coming off the bench to play Taylor in and he confidently beat the keeper.

Taylor completed his hat-trick minutes later, thumping the ball in off the cross bar from 22 yards giving the keeper no chance.

Minehead were then awarded a penalty which was comfortably scored - but there was still time for Berrow to add to their tally, with Taylor breaking down the left and crossing for McErlain to control and fire into the top corner from just inside the box.

In the last minute Taylor was played in by Lismore and rounded the keeper, before crossing for Keirle to finish.
