Berrow 3 Yatton Athletic 2

Berrow manager Dave Keirle was delighted to pick up his first win in his second match in charge, after his side beat Yatton Athletic 3-2 on Saturday.

Goals from Jordan Eldridge, Dan Rosser and Jamie Howson earned the points for Berrow, despite coming under the cosh late on – and Keirle said he was ‘over the moon’ with the result.

He said: "I'm over the moon, it was important for me to get a win early on so hopefully now this can give us some momentum to go on and win a few more.

“We're not getting carried away with one win - we know where we are at and will take it a game at a time.”

Berrow came flying out of the blocks with Cleave, Rosser, Eldridge and debutant Jamie Howson giving the Yatton back line a taste of what was to come.

It wasn't long before Berrow went in front - Howson freed Eldridge through the middle, who made no mistake rounding the goalkeeper and finishing to make it 1-0.

Anthony Cleave in particular was giving his marker the run around, beating him time and time again and is looking an outstanding signing.

Yatton equalised just before half-time, when a harshly awarded free-kick given against Kyle McErlain was buried with no mistake.

The second-half started superbly for Berrow - just three minutes in, Dan Rosser was found at the back post and finished superbly into the bottom corner.

Berrow piled on the pressure and made it 3-1 after 75 minutes, Eldridge cleverly beating his man in the box before unselfishly squaring the ball to Howson who helped himself to a debut goal.

Berrow’s joy was short lived, when a lapse in concentration gave Yatton a simple chance to reduce the deficit immediately.

Howson had a chance to wrap it up but the goalkeeper saved with his legs to deny him a second goal.

Yatton were giving it everything, piling men forward but the Berrow back line stood strong, with 22 year-old Ben Robertson winning every header and tackle, determined not to let the three points slip away.

Berrow saw out the final few minutes of pressure and got the win they deserved.

BERROW require an assistant referee to run the line each Saturday, it's a payable position at £20 per match to include a lift to and from away games. Anyone interested please contact the Berrow FC Facebook page or Berrow Twitter page @BerrowFC
