Somerset Division One West

Burnham United 1 Street Reserves 1

BURNHAM fought back from a goal down to earn a share of the spoils at home to fellow strugglers Street Reserves on Saturday.

A change in formation saw the Seasiders start in a 3-5-2 formation in their quest to escape the poor run their currently in.

Street won the toss and opted to play with the wind which proved effective after a long range shot was aided by the weather looping in leaving Will Lamb no chance inside the opening 15 minutes.

Burnham soon settled and began playing the brand of football they are known for.

Despite defending against the wind they limited Street to very little in the first half.

Some neat football and hard work from Harrison Kidner meant he was through on goal but was denied by the keeper.

Minutes later a defender handled inside the box following a strike from Mick Stevens, allowing Tom Hurley to finish from the spot.

Burnham started the second half in the same style as they had finished the first, dominating the tempo but unable to break down Street.

Vincent had the best chance of the half but fired his shot straight at the goalkeeper from eight yards.

The last 15 minutes was played in the Street half, with Burnham throwing the kitchen sink at the visitors without joy.

This was another frustrating game where the Seasiders can feel hard done by not to come away with maximum points, despite an excellent team performance.
