Street Reserves 1, Berrow & Highbridge 3

BERROW & Highbridge maintained their perfect start to the season with victory at Street Reserves on Wednesday evening.

They were made to work for their fourth win from four, by a well organised and fit Street side.

The visitors welcomed back Will Bailey, who had missed the start of the season through injury, and he added some much need to height to the central midfield area.

B&H took the lead midway through the first half, after patient build-up play found Chris Taylor through on goal, and the in-form striker made no mistake, sliding the ball past the keeper.

The lead was soon doubled when a swift counter allowed Scott Harman to break down the right, and he delivered a great cross for the on-fire Taylor to tap in his eighth goal of the season.

Street needed to find a quick response to come back into the game, and they halved the deficit from a set-piece early in the second half.

The hosts pressed but were held at bay by some solid defending and work rate from B&H, who restored their two-goal cushion when Taylor provided a pinpoint cross for Darren Partridge to nod home from close range.

There was still half an hour to play, but the visitors held their shape and ran hard to come through as 3-1 winners.

The B&H man of the match (sponsored by Abbey Cabs) was Cam Hampson, who put in one of several fine individual performances in an excellent team performance.

The result, coupled with Somerton Town's draw at Glastonbury, sent B&H top of the league table on 12 points, and this Saturday they are at home to 13th-placed Clevedon United Reserves (ko 3pm).
