Burnham United 0, Yatton & Cleeve United 2

BURNHAM United lost their unbeaten home record on Saturday, as Yatton & Cleeve United punished the hosts’ defensive mistakes to leapfrog them and go third in the table.

In an evenly-contested first half, both teams had few chances.

Burnham’s best opportunity came for Harrison Kidner, who was inches away from putting his side into the lead.

Home keeper Will Lamb pulled off a double save to keep the scores level, and just before half time another cross from the left saw Kidner again come agonisingly close to breaking the deadlock.

Burnham started the second half well, with great work from Finlay Paul, beating two players, but his shot was well saved by the away keeper.

The hosts then thought they should have been awarded a penalty when Jamie Merrick was impeded in the box, but the referee waved play on.

Yatton took the lead on the hour through Josh Gibbs, after a mistake in the home defence.

With Burnham pushing for an equaliser, another defensive mistake was punished by Gibbs again to secure the points, while the home side slipped down to seventh spot.

Minehead AFC 2, Berrow & Highbridge 1

BERROW & Highbridge slid to 13th in the Division 1 West standings after losing at Minehead on Saturday.

Goalkeeper Sam Bailey had a remarkable afternoon, making countless saves for the visitors, but it wasn’t quite enough.

The hosts attacked with vigour from the outset, and Bailey was quickly in the thick of the action to deny Callum Barnfield, Harry Scratchard, Mike Graddon and Guy Burns.

Josh Watkins then put the visitors ahead on a rare foray towards the Minehead goal, but Bailey was finally beaten just before half time, as Graddon stroked home a rebound.

More stellar saves from Bailey followed after the break, while B&H looked to utilise the counter-attack, but Graddon won it in the 89th minute from Burns’ square ball.

Radstock Town Reserves 6, Burnham Utd Reserves 2

BURNHAM Reserves’ unbeaten run came to an end, as they were defeated by a strong Radstock team.

The front three of Radstock started very quickly with balls over the top for them to run on to, and they took a 1-0 half-time lead.

The home side started the second period quickly, and Burnham found themselves 4-0 down.

Finley Wilkinson pulled one back after picking the ball up in his own half and beating half the home team before coolly slotting home, but Burnham soon conceded another two.

Right at the end, man-of-the-match Wilkinson set up substitute Benny Windram to slot home in an open net.

Burnham A 7, Hutton Reserves 3

BURNHAM A moved back to the top of the table after overcoming third-placed Hutton on Saturday.

Shaun Lismore opened the scoring early in the game, but Hutton levelled.

Lloyd Dean then scored, and Jesse McQuaid headed Burnham into a 3-1 lead.

Hutton got one back and the hosts had keeper James Fowler to thank for them keeping the lead, as he made a great diving save.

Kane Powell then headed in to give Burnham a 4-2 half-time lead.

The next goal would be critical and, after 65 minutes, Burnham got two in quick succession through Dean and McQuaid.

Dean then completed his hat-trick with 10 minutes to go before Hutton scored a third late on.
