BURNHAM United ended a difficult week with a thumping home win, putting four past Weston St John's to sit fifth in the Division 1 West standings.

The club announced that they had suffered a break-in on Tuesday, but fortunately they managed to end a bad week with some good news.

The visitors are fourth from bottom in the standings, and United showed no mercy, dispatching them with goals from Ed Lamb, Elliot Lamb, Matt Scott and substitute Joe Selway.

United are four points behind leaders Somerton Town, and their next match is at home to ninth-placed Portishead Town Reserves on Saturday, December 30 (ko 2pm).

Before that, Boxing Day (Tuesday, ko 11am) sees Burnham United Veterans take on Burnham United All Stars at Cassis Close, which will also have a skittles competition running through the day.

STRUGGLING Berrow & Highbridge were no match for table-topping Somerton Town on Saturday, shipping 12 goals without reply.

Somerton tore their hosts apart, with goals from Tom Clifford-Jones (3), Rhys Dyer (3), Jamie Brown (2), Matt Joyner, Dave Meaden, Gavin Meaden and Daniel Scriven.

B&H sit 13th in the league standings, and this Saturday (December 30, ko 2pm) they host Nailsea & Tickenham Reserves, who are third.
