Somerset League Division 4

Huntspill & District 285-4 beat Mark 210 by 75 runs

SAM Lillycrop stole the show as Huntspill and District made it three wins from three against local rivals Mark.

Mark won the toss and invited the home side to bat on a wicket slightly damp after overnight rain. Lillycrop and Dan Cavill both batted steadily taking the score to 20 with minimal fuss.

However, soon Huntspill were 26-2 as Cavill and Crawford both fell to Dave Worthington (2-59).

Craig Slack joined Lillycrop kept the scoreboard ticking over and when Mark introduced change bowlers, Huntspill put their foot down racing past 100 then 150 in the space of six overs.

Lillycrop passed 50 and with the support of Slack were putting Huntspill into a commanding position.

Slack made a well constructed 50 and Lillycrop was celebrating his first ever century with consecutive boundaries in a totally chanceless innings.

He cut loose and blazed a flurry of boundaries to reach 130, 22 fours and one six, until he finally fell having shared a 209 run partnership with Slack.

Slack seemed to be closing on a 100 but fell LBW to Simon Cattermole (2-49) for 83 with Huntspill closing on 285-4 with Tippetts on 14 and Matt Counsell on one.

In reply, Mark got off to a good start with Simon Cattermole ruthlessly punishing any loose deliveries from the opening attack of Tippetts and Organ.

It took a mix up between Cattermole and opening partner Lloyd which resulted in the latter being run out for Huntspill to get the much needed breakthrough.

Cattermole (56) had brought up his 50 and was looking a real threat to Huntspill but the introduction of Counsell and Lillycrop swung the game back in Huntspill's favour removing both Cattermole's in the space of two overs.

Coleman attempted to keep Mark up with the rate and smashed a quickfire 50 but after he fell to Lillycrop Mark fell away with Tommy Clarke finding form taking 3-29 to leave Mark 182- 7.

Lillycrop nearly finished his day off as he took two wicket in two balls to bring up his five wicket haul (5-37) and Counsell finished it off with a Garner stumping to give Huntspill a 75-run victory.

Next week Huntspill travel to Cranmore.
