BURNHAM United capped off a fantastic double winning season by beating Weston Crusaders 6-1 in the Woodspring League Cup Final.

Burnham started the game nervously and it was Weston who went 1-0 up but they were quickly on the level terms with a goal from Rosser scoring his 36th goal of the season.

United went into the break 3-1 up with Podbury following up a freekick and Jefferies finishing off a flowing move from back to front.

Burnham had the wind in their favour in the second half and played with some style. Kidner was next to get on the score sheet before fine long range strikes from Harding and Partridge completing the scoring.

They had already won the league one title a week earlier finishing nine points of second place Portishead.

In the 22 games played in league and cup Burnham had won 21 and drawn one and in the process had scored a total of1 121 goals and only conceded 13.

Manager Carl James said: “I am very proud of the boys' achievements and thank them for their hard work in every game- they have been a pleasure to manage and I am already looking forward to working with the team next season. We would also like to thank Barrington and Sons Solicitors for their kind sponsorship of our kit".
