Huntspill & District 150-3 beat Cranmore 149-8 by 7 wkts

A STUNNING 100 off 37 balls from Steve Eley ensured Huntspill remained unbeaten and top of the table after defeating Cranmore.

Missing last weeks batting hero's Sam Lillycrop and Craig Slack, Huntspill welcomed back Steve Eley from a dislocated finger and wicket keeper Graham Dyer to side.

It was Dyer who was in action first taking a fine one handed catch to remove A Pang off the bowling of Tippetts. With Organ, Tippetts bowled a superb opening spell which applied huge pressure on the home side on a slow track and it was not long before they were in further trouble at 22-3.

Cranmore took few risks against and when they completed their 12 over spells the score board read 45-3 from 24 overs with Tippetts taking 2-20 and Organ 1-23.

Matt Counsell introduced himself and father Dave into the attack and both continued the pressure to start with but as the overs remaining reduced Cranmore took on the bowling more in search of a competitive total and 68 from M Pang took Cranmore past 120 towards a par score.

Golden arm Dan Cavill removed Pang and Dave Counsell (3-33) took a further wicket as the home side close on 149-8.

In reply, Huntspill got off to a blistering start as Eley bludgeoned the club's fastest ever 50, coming off just 14 balls.

Dan Cavill was a virtual spectator at the other end as Eley continued his display of clean hitting as took 24 of a single over with the houses outside the ground taking a complete battering.

Eley didn't stop their either as he brought up his century with an inside edge to fine leg to bring up his 100 off just 37 balls.

The following over he fell caught behind but despite Mark Crawford falling for 12, Randall and Tippetts finished off the job.

Next Week Huntspill entertain East Coker who sit in second place.
