IN THE Somerset Cricket League Division 9NW, East Huntspill II smashed Wedmore A by 230 runs. Batting first, East Huntspill amassed 279-6 thanks to a century from D West (113) and 64 from P Gass. In reply, Wedmore didn’t ever get going and were skittled out just 49 thanks to wickets from P Spelman (3-13), N Alway (2-13) and S Clements (2-2).

In Division 3, Burnham won a closely fought contest by 10 runs against Wellington II. S Dalrymple (52) and R Driver (46) helped Burnham to post an impressive 232-8 from their 45 overs. Wellington’s reply began brightly, but M Green (4-39) tore the heart out of the innings to see Burnham sneak home by the smallest of margins.

Wedmore were narrowly defeated by Long Sutton, despite an unbeaten century from P Patch (106 not out). Patch’s innings guided Wedmore to 205-6, but Long Sutton crept home by two wickets. R Burgess took 3-15 for Wedmore, but it wasn’t quite enough.

A five-wicket haul from S Cattermole wasn’t quite enough to stop Mark losing out to East Coker in Division 4. Batting first, Mark made 143 all out, with N Coleman scoring 38. Cattermole (5-38) did his best to prevent defeat, but East Coker crawled over the line to win by three wickets.

In Division 6, East Huntspill cruised to a five wicket win against Castle Carey II thanks to 86 not out from M Crook. Earlier, R Pomeroy took 4-36 to bowl Carey out for just 128.

Huntspill and District II beat Uphill Castle Crusaders by 81 runs in Division 9NW. Batting first, Huntspill posted 191 all out, with T Garner scoring 58. In reply, Uphill were bowled out for just 110, with D Counsell (4-18) and N Statton (4-20) doing the damage.
