BURNHAM got back to winning ways with an emphatic five wicket victory over North Perrot 2nd XI at BASC on Saturday.

Rob Driver continued his fine form with the bat, scoring 57 not out as Burnham chased down North Perrott’s 170 all out inside 40 overs.

Having won the toss and opted to bowl first, Stuart Green (3-38) took a wicket in each of his first three overs to reduce Perrott to 60-5 after 22 overs.

But Perrott continued to fight and recovered to 135-7 thanks to a 73-run partnership between J Symes (58) and P Ireland 36. But when Ireland was out stumped, the innings fell apart as Mike Green (3-24) and Brian Brogden (3-52) took the final wickets.

Burnham openers Brad House and Jim Bloodworth started the chase brightly and had reached 44 when Bloodworth was bowled for 27.

House then joined forces with Rob Driver and the pair added 56 for the second wicket. House was stumped for 38 and this sparked a mini collapse, as Burnham fell to 128-5.

But Driver kept his composure, hitting five fours and two sixes in his innings of 57, to see the side home by five wickets.
