EAST Huntspill overcame Chard A by 46 runs on Saturday in the Somerset Cricket League Division 6.
Batting first, Huntspill lost a wicket in the first over as Cooke fell without scoring. But a 42-run partnership between P Gass (15) and S Morley (42) began to solidify the innings. Gass fell soon after and from here on in, wickets fell at regular intervals. Telling contributions from Morley (42) and Chedzey (31) carried the home side to a respectable total, but a flurry of wickets late on left Huntspill 192 all out in the 43rd over.
Chard's pursuit of 192 never really got going, only T Shire (74) put up any sort of resistance, as S Dare (3-18), Kieron Stamp (3-42), Rob Pomeroy (2-31) and Andrew Chedzey (1-24) chipped away at the batting line-up. Chard were eventually dismissed for 146 with just nine balls left in the innings, to give East Huntspill the win and keep them in the division's top two.
