BURNHAM secured a comprehensive nine-wicket victory over Wedmore at the BASC on Saturday, thanks to an unbroken stand of 154 between Robbie Driver and Jim Bloodworth.
Earlier, Burnham's bowlers had kept things under control with some accurate bowling, but failed to bowl their opposition out, finishing with eight wickets. Driver (3-31) struck first in his second over and from here on in, the wickets continued to fall at regular intervals. S Green (3-30), M Green 1-39 and B Brogden (1-39) all chipped in with wickets as Wedmore were restricted to 168-8 from their 45 overs.
Burnham's reply got off to a shaky start as they lost Brad House (5) in the sixth over with the score on 15, but that was to be Wedmore's only success. Driver joined Bloodworth and with a fast outfield and an excellent batting wicket, the two began to enjoy themselves, playing shots all around the wicket. Bloodworth was the first to this half century from 65 balls and was followed shortly after by Driver, who took just 54 balls to reach his milestone. The pair had hit 24 boundaries between them when they reached their target in the 27th over to cruise to victory.
