EAST Huntspill remain in second place in Division 6 of the Somerset Cricket League after a two-wicket victory over Taunton St Andrews 'A'.
A half-century from M Crook (65) helped Huntspill chase down St Andrews' total, after S Dare (5-27) had torn through the top-order to bowl the Taunton side out for 160.
P Bagg (1-51) and R Pomeroy (2-26) also chipped in with wickets to restrict St Andrews to a below-par total, but it was Dare who did the most damage with a destructive eight-over spell. K Stamp (1-42) also grabbed a wicket as St Andrews were bowled out in under 40 overs.
The East Huntspill reply was far from smooth, as they lost Kidner (6), Cooke (27) and Chedzey (1) very early on. But Crook held the innings together with a neatly compiled 65, despite wickets tumbling around him. P Bagg added a crucial 26, but he fell with only ten needed for victory. Crook continued to stand firm and guided his side past their target with another crisply-struck boundary to seal a narrow victory.
