AN UNBEATEN half-century from B House guided Burnham to a comfortable eight-wicket victory over Horrington on Saturday.
House scored 70 not out as Burnham chased down Horrington's 171-8 inside 39 overs. Earlier B Brogden had taken 4-43 to restrict Horrington to a below-par score on a flat wicket.
Having been asked to bowl first, M Green (2-35) removed Russell and Forge in his opening spell, but 49 from J Delange held the innings together. Driver (1-36) and Smith (1-25) also chipped in with wickets, but it was Brogden who did most of the damage, blowing away the Horrington middle-order with a fine spell of bowling. J Burge (30) added a late cameo to carry Horrington up to 171-8, to set Burnham a straight-forward looking chase.
And straight-forward it proved to be, as House and J Bloodworth got Burnham off to a flyer with a string of well-struck boundaries. Bloodworth fell for fluent 61 and was followed shortly after by Driver, who was dismissed for 2. But House continued on his way and was joined by Scott Dalrymple. The latter added a composed 25 not out as Burnham cruised to victory.
