A COMPOSED innings of 45 not out from R Pomeroy guided East Huntspill to a two-wicket victory over Purnells on Saturday.

Batting in the lower-order, Pomeroy combined with K Stamp (10 not) to carry East Huntspill over the line with nine balls to spare.

M Crook had earlier taken 3-16 to help bowl Purnells out for 164. K Stamp (2-27) and R Pomeroy (2-41) were also in the wickets as East Huntspill rattled through the Purnells line-up on a what should have been a good day for batting.

In reply, East Huntspill lost D Kidner (5), M Cooke (13) and A Chedzey (4) very early on in the chase. S Morley (37) and M Edwards (28) put on 50 for the fourth wicket, but when they were both dismissed in quick succession, East Huntspill suffered a minor collapse.

Pomeroy and Stamp came together with thirty runs still needed for victory, but never looked in any trouble with Pomeroy in particular, finding the boundary with some powerful shots. The pair continued to score and edged their way over the finish line in the 44th over of the innings.
