EAST Huntspill edged home by just three wickets against Butleigh II on Saturday in a low scoring affair.
Having bowled Butleigh out for 113 thanks to 4-14 from K Stamp, East Huntspill crept home in the 24th over with R Pomeroy scoring an unbeaten 34.
On a blistering hot day, East Huntspill opening bowlers P Bagg (3-19) and R Pomeroy (2-25) tore through the Butleigh top-order as only two batsmen reached double figures.
Stamp's introduction continued the rot as his 12 over spell cost just 14 runs. His four wickets put an end to the Butleigh innings and left East Huntspill with a straight-forward looking chase.
But it proved far from straight-forward as a flurry of wickets left Huntspill in some early trouble.
D West (22) and A Chedzey (22) both made good starts, but were unable to go on, leaving Huntspill seven wickets down.
But R Pomeroy remained composed and guided his side across the line with a controlled knock of 34, to seal a three-wicket victory.
